Finnders & Youngberg, Colorado’s premier Americana quintet, will add yet another honor to their impressive resume: they’ve been chosen as an official showcase act for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass conference in Nashville, Tenn., this fall. They are one of just 13 acts invited to perform during the bluegrass industry’s biggest and most important week.
Festival Mozaic has announced its 2012 summer season, which will take place July 12-22 in the most charismatic spaces across California's Central Coast including Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, Chapel Hill in wine country, Hearst Castle overlooking the sparkling Pacific Ocean, and Mission San Miguel . A neurological disorder called dystonia is estimated to have ended the careers of at least one member of every major American metropolitan orchestra. Dystonia has claimed the livelihoods of musicians across genres including the acclaimed pianist Leon Fleisher of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, former first oboist of the Chicago Symphony Alex Klein, acoustic guitarist Billy McLaughlin, classical guitarist Liona Boyd, keyboard player Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, and others.

The 23 String Band are the 2011 winners of the RockyGrass Band Competition held every July at the RockyGrass Festival on Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, CO. They competed through two rounds in a field of 12 bands. As winners, 23SB will be opening the 2012 RockyGrass Festival on Friday, July 27.
The 23 String Band pay homage to the deep roots of American traditional music, while pushing forward with genre-bending, hard-driving originals and distinctive arrangements. Their new CD has received radio airplay on folk, Americana and bluegrass shows across the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe.

Their youthful brand of “original hillbilly music” weaves in and out of old-time, bluegrass, acoustic roots and anything else that strikes their fancy — it’s not uncommon to hear a Beastie Boys cover by these boys.
Notable past performances include the Master Musicians Festival, the Forecastle Festival, the International Bluegrass Museum’s ROMP, the Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival, the Kentucky Bluegrass Music Festival, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the Bluegrass on the Bay Festival in Montana and the Beartrap Summer Festival in Wyoming. Other previous highlights include the 2009 Rhythm & Roots Reunion in Bristol, Virginia, and the 2009 Mountain Heritage Literary Festival in Harrogate, Tennessee.
