It opens with Crash, a 18 secs track called Crash filling the speakers with massive mando sound. From then on the mando sounds come in a more sorted order, sometimes effectively arranged, sometimes free flowing improvised.
Two tracks are well known classics with a fresh approach. The rest is original music by the members of MandoMorphosis. It's a cascade of musical styles and approaches yet with a common identity somewhere in there.
MandoMorphosis is a collaboration among seven mandolin players, with an overarching goal of exploring the potential of the instrument in a variety of different musical genres.
All are mandolinists. All but one play several instruments. None of the tracks feature all musicians. There are several constellations.
The members are: Matt Sircely, Orville Johnson, Michael Connolly, David Tiller, Pete Frostic, Adam Larrabee and Scott Schaffer. They all live around North America.
4. Impromptu Redux
9. Pete's Wish
10. Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2
